Here we’ll tell you more about what EX-Center does, how we work, and what we can do for you.
EX-Center is a national Swedish centre for rehabilitation and information, for children and adults with multiple limb disabilities, i.e. with congenital deformities or amputations on more than one extremity (arms or legs).
EX-Center’s focus is on (re)- habilitation, based on an all-inclusive perspective, and on knowledge development and information dissemination. Our goal is to help people with functional disabilities gain increased independence and quality of life. We act as a complement to the support given by local municipalities and county councils.
Who will find EX-Center useful?
We’re here for everyone who needs more knowledge, support, or information about multiple limb disabilities. We address both children and adults from all over Sweden, and also welcome patients from other countries.
Our target group is primarily people with thalidomide effects, amputations, and those with dysmelia. We can also help people who have functional impairments that lead to similar problems. Read more about different causes of limb damage here. EX-Center also operates user activities, such as courses and theme meetings for those with limb disabilities and those close to them.
For you as patient
As a patient at EX-Center, you will receive a personal welcome and care. Your visit here is set up and adapted just for you and your needs, and can be planned in cooperation with your own care team, if you like. You will receive an intensive rehab program in which you can avail yourself of all our team’s resources. The first visit often takes about four days. If you live nearby you can commute from home. If you live far from Stockholm you can stay at the Mörby patient hotel at Danderyd Hospital, together with your own personal assistant if you need one.
Our coordinator takes care of all contacts before, during, and after your visit at EX-Center, and functions as a unifying link both inside and outside EX-Center.
We always work from an all-inclusive perspective, and value your active participation!
Coming to EX-Center usually requires some kind of referral.
