Apert syndrome

Apert syndrome or acrocephalo-syndactyly is a collective term for a number of deformities in the cranium, the facial skeleton and the hands and feet.

Other skeletal deformities may also occur, as may reduced mobility, balance problems, respiratory problems, eye and ear problems, cleft palate, and teeth and jaw problems. Mental capacities vary from normal to low. Developmental disturbances may appear. Most patients have, however, normal intelligence but are subject to so much stress that certain skills cannot develop normally.  Individual variation of symptoms and degrees of difficulty between people is great.
