Introducing the members of our team:

Coordinator Marie Wikström:



Marie has worked as Ex-Center’s patient coordinator since 2003. She was one of the initiators of Ex-Center, and has worked here since its start in 1993. During this entire period she has been employed by the Thalidomide Association of Sweden, and had various roles in the organization. In 2003-2005 Marie was the Thalidomide Association of Sweden’s Administrative Director. Marie has her own lifelong experience of Thalidomide effects.

Dr Peter Köhler MD PhD:



Peter is a doctor, and a specialist in orthopaedics and general surgery. He has the medical responsibility for the activities of EX-Center, the arm prosthesis unit and the walking school at the Red Cross Hospital. Peter has more than 20 years of experience with Thalidomide-affected people in Sweden.  He has been involved in EX-Center right from its beginning in 1993. Before he came to the Red Cross Hospital in 1991 as Medical Director, he had been responsible for the amputation program at Karolinska University Hospital in Solna. He has worked with rehabilitation of arm and leg amputees since the mid-1980s. Another of his main interests is treatment with orthopaedic technology such as orthotics and orthopaedically-made shoes.

Reg. Physical Therapist Katja Lundqvist:



Katja has a Masters Degree in Orthopaedic Manual Therapy, which she earned in 2006.

She has done further studies in sports medicine and physiology, as well as Pilates training for rehabilitation and mechanical diagnostics and therapy (MDT).

Katja is a part of the EX-Center team for examination, assessment, and treatment of individuals with multiple limb injuries, and also works with the arm prosthesis unit when arm amputees need help with specific training. She has several years of experience with all phases of orthopaedic rehabilitation. She has worked at Gåskolan and EX-Center since 2003.

Reg. Occupational Therapist Christina Ragnö:



Specialist in research methodology and occupational therapy, C-level.

Christina has worked since 1993 at the Arm prosthesis unit at EX-Center, and has been with us since its start in 2003.  She has over 20 years of experience working with Thalidomide-affected people, dysmelia patients, and amputees.

Christina has earlier worked in orthopaedic emergency care, child habilitation and rehabilitation as well as rehabilitation of arm amputees.

Reg. Occupational Therapist Anita Stockselius:



Bachelor degree in occupational therapy.

Anita has worked since 1999 in the Arm prosthesis unit at EX-Center at the Red Cross Hospital. Her earlier work includes occupational therapy at an emergency hospital with regional care of plastic surgery and patients and burn victims.
